My All-Time Favorites OTP’s ¤ Harry and Hermione
“I know all about you, of course.” ¤ “She doesn’t know about the troll.” ¤ “Harry was speechless. Hermione was the last person to do anything against the rules, and here she was, pretending she had, to get them out of trouble.” ¤ “Come on, Harry!” Hermione screamed, leaping onto her seat to watch as Harry sped straight at Snape - she didn’t even notice Malfoy and Ron rolling around under her seat ¤ “Hermione’s lip trembled, and she suddenly dashed at Harry and threw her arms around him.” ¤ “Books! And cleverness! There are more important things — friendship and bravery and - oh Harry - be careful!” ¤ “Whatever you’ve heard about my greatness is a load of rubbish. I’m not even top of my year at Hogwarts; that’s Hermione, she -” But he stopped quickly, because thinking about Hermione was painful.” ¤ “Harry moved automatically toward Hermione.” ¤ “But Harry could tell from the arrested look on Hermione’s face that she was thinking what he was thinking.” ¤ “But Harry was only half-listening. He didn’t seem to be able to get rid of the picture of Hermione, lying on the hospital bed as though carved out of stone.” ¤ “Hermione seemed to read his mind.” ¤ “Oh, my —” Hermione grabbed Harry’s arm.” ¤ “Hermione’s leg gave a nervous twitch next to him.” ¤ “To his great surprise, Hermione did not appear either excited or intrigued by the news. On the contrary, her face fell, and she bit her lip.” ¤ “Can I sit down, then?” Harry asked Hermione.” ¤ “Hermione suddenly grabbed Harry’s arm again.” ¤ “Harry moved his head over on the pillow. In the bed to his right lay Hermione. Moonlight was falling across her bed. Her eyes were open too. She looked petrified, and when she saw that Harry was awake, pressed a finger to her lips.” ¤ “Ready?” he whispered to Hermione. “You’d better hold on to me.” ¤ “At once, Hermione Granger’s voice seemed to fill his head.” ¤ “Hermione made a loud tutting noise. She reached up and pulled Harry back into his seat. “Honestly!” she said.” ¤ “Been in the -” “Library.” Harry finished her sentence for her. ¤ “I brought you this… . Want to go for a walk?” ¤ “To his immense relief, Hermione accepted his story without question.” ¤ “”That’s not funny at all.” She looked extremely anxious.” ¤ “Some of the anger Harry had been feeling for days and days seemed to burst through a dam in his chest. He had reached for his wand before he’d thought what he was doing.” ¤ “But Harry couldn’t ignore it.” ¤ “”Don’t move your lips so much then.” ¤ “and there was no point in staying without her.” ¤ “Good luck, Harry,” Hermione whispered. “You’ll be fine!” “Yeah,” said Harry in a voice that was most unlike his own.” ¤ “Hermione suddenly smiled very mischievously, and Harry noticed it too: It was a very different smile from the one he remembered.” ¤ “His jaw dropped. It was Hermione. […] Harry couldn’t understand how he hadn’t spotted it before.” ¤ “”Close enough,” she said, catching Harry’s eye and grinning.” ¤ “but Krum didn’t look happy at all. He attempted to engage Hermione in conversation again, but she was too busy cheering Harry to listen.” ¤ “Hermy-own-ninny talks about you very often,” said Krum, looking suspiciously at Harry.” ¤ “Bye, Harry!” said Hermione, and she did something she had never done before, and kissed him on the cheek.” ¤ “Hermione had thrown herself on to him in a hug that nearly knocked him flat. […] ‘Let him breathe, Hermione,’ said Ron. ¤ “Ron was standing there with his mouth half-open, clearly stunned and at a loss for anything to say, whilst Hermione looked on the verge of tears.” ¤ “None of the others had noticed a thing.” ¤ “”You’re always having a go at each other, it’s driving me mad.” And abandoning his shepherd’s pie, he swung his schoolbag back over his shoulder and left them sitting there.” ¤ “”Don’t you get involved!” Hermione whispered urgently to him.” ¤ “It was the first time she had ever said Voldemort’s name and it was this, more than anything else, that calmed Harry.” ¤ “a voice very much like Hermione’s whispered in his ear: reckless.” ¤ “Yeah … I prefer your way,” said Harry, grinning. ¤ “Did you kiss?” asked Hermione briskly. ¤ “I thought you were skiing with your mum and dad?” ¤ Cho raised her eyebrows. “You’re meeting Hermione Granger? Today?” ¤ “just p - paid and you went and met up with Hermione G - Granger, like you obviously want to!” ¤ “But I don’t think you’re ugly,” said Harry, bemused. ¤ “Oh yes, I forgot - of course, if it was darling Hermione’s idea -” ¤ “Harry could feel Hermione shaking.” ¤ “A whine of panic inside his head was preventing him thinking properly: he had one hand on Hermione’s shoulder, which was still warm, yet did not dare look at her properly. Don’t let her be dead, don’t let her be dead” […] Such a powerful wave of relief swept through Harry that for a moment he felt light-headed. ¤ “So Hermione’s here?” he asked happily as he tickled Crookshanks behind the ears. ¤ “Hermione was peering into Fred and George’s boxes, though every now and then she cast sideways looks at Harry.” ¤ “Shh! Look! He’s in there!” she breathed in Harry’s ear. ¤ “Harry was so disarmed that she had thought his words as well worth memorizing as The Standard Book of Spells that he did not argue.” ¤ “It’s not Quidditch that’s popular, it’s you! You’ve never been more interesting, and frankly, you’ve never been more fanciable.” ¤ Harry was finding the Great Hall very hot all of a sudden, even though the ceiling still looked cold and rainy. ¤ “No, I wouldn’t,” said Ron, in a very quiet voice. Harry missed the pod, hit the bowl, and shattered it. ¤ It was not as though he was really surprised, thought Harry, as he wrestled with a thorny vine intent upon throttling him; he had had an inkling that this might happen sooner or later. But he was not sure how he felt about it… ¤ “I want to know you lot are OK … don’t look like that, Hermione, I’ll see you later.” ¤ “Ron, he saw, was now holding Hermione and stroking her hair while she sobbed into his shoulder, tears dripping from the end of his own long nose. With a miserable gesture, Harry got up, turned his back on Ginny and on Dumbledore’s tomb and walked away around the lake.” ¤ “Hermione turned and beamed at Harry; her eyes, too, were full of tears. ‘…then I declare you bonded for life.” ¤
Harry could feel the heat creeping up his face as he was painfully aware of her gaze on him.
Hermione could not help but drew in a shuddering breath as she stared at the boy who looked as though he had the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Ron was an insecure person. Keyword: was.He hates these nights because he remembers. He remembers what happened in his 7th year (what was suppose to be his 7th year). He wonders would he have been made Head Boy?
But sometimes, only sometimes when Hermione sends him sleeping on the couch for the fourth (or is it fifth?) time this week, he thinks maybe he is just kidding himself…
He stares at the picture frame of Hugo and Rose high above the shelves. (Both smiling - both red heads, thanks Merlin). They’ve learned to compromise. Well, he’s learnt to compromise. ( Harry: “ I love her like a sister. I love her like a sister. She feels the same way. I love her like a sister”)
He keeps staring at Hugo’s and Rose’s smiling faces until he falls asleep. Sister. Sister. Sister. This is how it ends, he thinks. This is how it should end. He doesn’t really need a House Elf and he should really have owled Hermione.
But when he is flitting between consciousness and unconsciousness – he remembers how does Harry know? How does an only child tell if he loves someone like a sister? [x]
